Do any of you know how to get the yellow pit stains out of white shirts? My hubby has a few that I would like to freshen up.

Look at this cute stuff I found on Ebay! It is all for the bedroom. If you don’t remember what our bedroom looks like you can see it under our home links to the right.
These are little wall flowers that you can have a hook on the back that you can use to hang anywhere.

This next one is a huge wall hanging. It is 5 1/2 inches high and 46 inches long. The neat thing about this hanging is that hubby and I frequently say this to each other.

The pillow is just cute. I thought it was adorable.

I think that out of these three things, I am going to get the wall hanging and maybe the pillow for Valentines day. (If I can talk hubby into it.)

Pinecone Balls – Pottery Barn January 16, 2007

Filed under: Decorating Ideas — cottagecharm @ 7:14 pm

While browsing the Pottery Barn site, I cam across these beauties. They would be really easy to duplicate especially if you had a supply of pinecones nearby! I just think that they are really pretty and wouldn’t mind trying my hand at making some.

Pottery Barn Pillows January 16, 2007

Oh My Goodness! Just look at these pillows from Pottery Ban! I am so in love with both of the red patterns and they would match our living room really well!

The pillows are a bit vintage in feel and would look great in any number of decors!

I think that I like the second pattern better than the first one though. I think it would match better with the florals I have. Don’t get me wrong, I like the pillows, but I am NOT willing to spend about $30 for one. I am content at just looking at them and maybe finding something a lot cheaper that will give the same effect.

Speaking of cheaper, I wish I could make pillows, I have some fabric at home that I bought for that purpose, but just don’t know how to do it. Maybe eventually I will….. It is perfect too! It has the cream, tan and red in it and is stripped. Very chic!

Good Idea – Christmas Shopping all Year Round January 15, 2007

Filed under: Good Ideas — cottagecharm @ 12:54 am

Yesterday while browsing Old Navy, I found some Christmas ornaments that my mother would love. They were on clearance for $2.99 with an additional 50% off. I got them for $1.50. Hubby and I thought it would be great to start picking up gifts for next years Christmas instead of waiting till the last minute. I know a lot of you already do this, but it does make a lot of sense. By doing it this way, you can find all sorts of good deals and clearance items that others would like. OF course, once you buy the item, make sure to label who it is too and keep a list of items purchased somewhere so that you don’t purchase the same thing twice. If it is something that can be returnable, make sure to tape the receipt to it and then store all the items together. That way, you can just get out the Christmas present box and wrap them all together. What a great idea!

Another Decorating Idea January 11, 2007

Filed under: Decorating Ideas — cottagecharm @ 2:32 pm

I found this idea from Mrs. Wilt over at The Sparrow’s Nest and it is quite charming! She got the idea from Dub & Sam who provides a very nice tutorial!

Picture taken from Mrs. Wilt’s website.

We have a DVD holder in our living room and these little stars will look very cute nestled in there. I was thinking about shades of red, burgundy, gold, and green and of course some floral papers and maybe even some french script ones as well!

I might even put up some small photo frames and the stars. hmm….. I will think of something great for that spot!

We shall see how this turns out.. of course I will need to go and buy some papers, but those can be found cheaply!

UPDATE: Guess what I found in the mail!! A coupon for 5 pieces of free paper from a new scrapbook store that is opening up near me. And a coupon for a free Archiver’s black canvas tote with any purchase! I am so excited! That means I can go in there and get my free paper, and then the following week, I can go in thee and buy some more paper and get the tote free! Hot dog!

Calling all Bakers January 10, 2007

Filed under: Advice — cottagecharm @ 12:24 am

I am looking for a good, easy, no-bake cookie recipe. Seems mine never turn out the way I like them. I like them almost dry. (does that make sense?)

Anyway, if you have a good no-bake recipe or tips, please leave them in my comments. Thank you so much!

One of my Christmas Presents January 3, 2007

Filed under: Decorating Ideas, Our Home — cottagecharm @ 4:42 pm
Every year for Christmas we get scratch off lottery tickets in our stockings. This year I won $46. Whoo-Hoo!!! I went out and bought some things. (Santa told me to spend it on me. lol)
I got a few things from the consignment store and Goodwill (all new and never worn!) (you will see this stuff later on)
I also got a new centerpiece for my table! I am so excited!! I found the urn at Kirklands and it was love at first sight! (not to mention that is was on sale for $15!!!!) Then I went to Walmart and Target for the filler. I LOVE it and it looks so much better than the candle I had there before.

Idea for Bedroom December 10, 2006

Filed under: Decorating Ideas — cottagecharm @ 3:08 pm

This is one wall in our bedroom. I hate it! I don’t like the picture and I don’t really like the shelves. (we got the picture for our wedding. It is a Hargrove painting. Anyone want to buy it?) (please see notes below)

This wall is in between the door and our armour. The only thing that sits on this wall is the clothes hamper, the dry cleaning basket and a cat scratcher. I think it might help to tie in the countryish theme in the room. I am still not sure of it though.

Anyways, I was browsing the Martha Stewart site and came across this idea:

Framed HandkerchiefsThat box of folded handkerchiefs at a
vintage-clothing store might not look promising, but, unfolded, each one can be a piece of art. Many handkerchiefs from 1900 through the 1960s were printed with lively designs. Framed simply, they’re great decorations for a wall. Here’s how to do it: Wash and iron handkerchiefs; measure each of the four sides, adding 1/2 inch to each measurement. Have 1/8-inch-thick glass and 1/16-inch-thick poster board cut to these dimensions. Center the handkerchief on the poster board, and cover it with the glass, matching up the edges. Do not use tape or glue to mount the handkerchief; residue from either can stain or discolor the fabric. Use a Swiss clip to clamp the middle of one side while applying foil tape along the opposite edge, making sure the tape adheres to the glass and the poster board. Snip tape at the corners. Center a clip over the tape, then repeat the process for the remaining three sides.

I like it, but don’t know about it. I have a whole shoebox full of old hankies that my grandma has given me but I don’t know if it would look right in our bedroom. You can visit the links over at the right to see our bedroom. Let me know if you think it would be a good idea to do to that wall? Thanks for the help!

UPDATE: I went through my box of hankies and have some that will be perfect for this project, but I will need to find some more. I need some in yellow and a few in lilac for this to work. So this project may take some time before I can even start in on it. And plus, we don’t have the money for it right now anyway, it is still in the thinking process at this point……

on another note, I am not kidding about the painting from up above. If you are interested in it here is the link to check out the painter. Here is a blurb from when I contacted the website to learn more about the painting:

This is painting 1146 of 1500. H. Hargrove has one daughter, Joye, who is the pride & joy of his life. So, how better could a Dad who is an artist do then to show his love by capturing one of the most special days in his daughter’s life in a painting.Of course, his love for vintage cars didn’t hurt. He created that wonderful painting that everyone can relate to in 1990
